The collection splits into three groups, and which one you need depends on your substrate and the finish you want. Smooth panels give a flat plane, textured panels a relief you can feel, and the accessories hold the right mounting adhesive.

Because the old tiles can stay on the wall. That saves demolition, dust, skip hire and usually the one or two weeks in which the bathroom is unusable.

A traditional renovation starts with a hammer. Fine dust travels through the whole house, the plaster behind the tiles usually comes off with them, and a tiler is rarely free next week. With panels you skip that entire stage: clean, degrease, glue, done.

We tested them in our own buildings for two years first

Before Dizzplace existed, we ran housing for migrant workers — people in meat processing, working shifts, sharing one kitchen and one bathroom between many. A bathroom like that takes more punishment in a year than a family bathroom does in five.

That is where we used these panels first, and it was a gamble. Across a few dozen rooms: in the bathrooms, and in the kitchens as a splashback — in most cases directly behind the hob. We wanted to know what happens when you throw a material in at the deep end, not how it performs in a showroom.

We are now in the second year. Most of those walls look practically new. Cleaning is a cloth and a mild product, nothing more. Take sharp tools to them and you will damage them — that goes without saying. But they have handled daily heavy use better than we dared hope.

What did go wrong, and why that is the most useful thing we can tell you

In a few places panels started to bulge. On removal the cause was the same every time: the fitters had applied the adhesive in thick blobs instead of spreading it evenly with a notched trowel. That left a layer of air under the board.

In one shower enclosure such a board warped. The same happened in a kitchen, and there the combination was especially unlucky: deep-fat frying in large pans happens daily, close to the wall. Heat plus a layer of air underneath is exactly what you do not want. On one board the protective top layer had chipped off in several spots; it looked as if it had been struck with a tool.

After six months we replaced those boards, this time glued according to the fitting instructions. Not a single problem since — same places, same residents.

So this is the most honest advice we can give: the material is not the weak point, the adhesive layer is. Spread it evenly with a 3–4 mm notched trowel, not in blobs. If air stays trapped under the board, heat alone is enough to make it move.

Yes, and that is exactly what they are made for. The condition is that the old tiles are firmly attached, flat, and properly degreased before you apply the adhesive.

If a tile is loose, knock it out and fill the gap. A substrate that bulges or steps will show through the panel later, because 3 mm of material follows the wall. On a genuinely uneven wall you work with battens rather than gluing directly.

Yes. A fully tiled bathroom is a habit, not a requirement: panels, poured floors and waterproof plaster do the same job without grout lines.

For the wall, large boards are the simplest route, because one board covers an entire shower wall. In wet rooms use moisture-resistant (green) plasterboard as the substrate; ordinary plasterboard does not belong there. Gaps at the shower tray, the bath and the corners are finished with mould-resistant sanitary sealant.

Yes, our panels are 100% waterproof and suitable for the shower wall and the wall behind the bath. The material absorbs no moisture, so it cannot swell or rot the way wood or plasterboard can.

The big difference from tiles is in the grout. A tiled shower wall of 3 m² easily carries tens of metres of grout line, and that is precisely where mould takes hold. One panel has none.

Yes. "Plastic wall panels" is the umbrella term, and both PVC and SPC panels fall under it. If you are searching for plastic wall panels for the bathroom, this is exactly the material you mean.

The difference is not in the category but in the core of the board, and that difference you will notice.

PVC panels are glued flat to the wall; SPC panels click together and are thicker and stiffer. PVC is the logical choice when you are working over existing tiles, SPC when you want a continuous pattern running across several panels.

We currently have four SPC sets with a click system: Invisible Grey Marble, Calcatta Viola, Statuario Premium and Sodalite Blue.

A marble look brings calm and depth and works best in a bathroom or behind a bath. Stone and concrete looks are rougher in character and do well on a feature wall in the living room or behind the TV.

Within the marble looks there is more variation than photos show. Cloud Ivory pulls towards a light taupe-beige, Urban Mist is greyer, and on a north-facing wall both come out darker than on a sunny one. That is exactly why we sell samples instead of asking you to trust a product photo: hold the board against your own wall, next to your floor and your furniture, and look at it in the morning and in the evening.

No, profiles are not needed. You butt the panels tightly together and on a flat substrate the seam is barely visible afterwards.

This is where craftsmanship makes the difference, though. If the wall is not truly plumb, the seam follows it and that is when it stands out. If you want certainty, this is the moment to have someone experienced take the measurements. With PVC panels you apply adhesive along the full length of the join, press the panels together and hold them with tape until the adhesive has cured.

One panel is roughly 3.4 m². Divide your wall area by 3.4 and round up — for an average shower wall you land on one to two boards.

For adhesive, reckon on about 2 m² per 600 ml tube, applied with a 3–4 mm notched trowel. Evenly, across the whole surface, not in blobs. We have seen in our own buildings what happens when that is skipped, and it is described above. Cutting is done with a sharp utility knife (score and snap); for precise cut-outs around pipes use a circular saw with a guide rail or an angle grinder with a diamond blade. The matching adhesive is in the mounting accessories.

Not in an ordinary car, and bending or rolling it is not an option. Count on a van, a trailer or delivery.

This is the question we get most often and the one least often answered anywhere. If you are collecting, we work strictly by appointment — below is where that is possible and what delivery costs.

Delivery costs between €49 and €99, depending on distance. The number of panels makes no difference: whether we bring two boards or twenty, it is the same trip.

Pricing by distance rather than by order size is a deliberate choice. A 280 × 122 cm board is oversized; external carriers charge rates for it that make the board itself uneconomical. We drive with our own transport straight to your address: no combined route, no transfer depot, no damaged corners. You see the exact amount in the basket as soon as you enter your address.

To the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, calculated from the warehouse nearest to you. From our main warehouse in Valkenswaard we drive up to 200 km; from our warehouses in Belgium and Germany up to 100 km.

Yes, and then you pay no transport costs. Collection is possible at three warehouses: Valkenswaard in the Netherlands, Schelle in Belgium and Dortmund in Germany.

We have no fixed opening hours, so collection is always by appointment — let us know which day and what time you are coming and the boards will be ready. Samples we send free by post to the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

They are not suitable for outdoors, nor for rooms above 60 °C. And because the material is 3 mm thin, a panel takes on the shape of your substrate: a bulging wall stays bulging.

Beyond that, this is not a material to attack with an abrasive cleaner. A soft cloth and a mild detergent are enough — and that is the point: maintenance barely exists, as long as you do not attack the surface.

Only under partial cover, and even then with reservations. They are designed for interiors; the protective top layer holds colour indoors but is not made for full sun, frost and rain.

If you want to tackle an exterior wall, choose façade material tested for it. We would rather not sell a panel that disappoints in two years.

We give a two-year manufacturer's warranty on our panels. It comes on top of your statutory rights and does not limit them.

That last part matters more than it sounds. A manufacturer's warranty and your statutory rights are two separate things: the warranty runs on terms we set ourselves, while statutory rights follow from law regardless of what we write. If a fault appears within a reasonable service life and it does not come down to use or installation, you can come to us.
